No it’s not you. It’s the same be it Hulu, Pandora etc. And Cable TV is notorious for this

The oldest meme in the history of broadcast media? Glad to see it’s still alive with Spotify.
(I always pronounce it “spo-TIFFY” just to seem really out of touch. Bonus if you tell you people that sorry, you don’t speak Swedish.)

you have ads on Spotify?

I try to avoid ads as much as possible. Besides FM radio and on webpages I only really encounter them on Spotify and YouT ube.
B ut on YouTube they don’t make me want to rip my headphones off and throw them across the room.

Yeah I don’t have premium because I only really use it when I forget my iPod in my car and I’m too lazy to go get it.

I’m adopting that last part.

I’ve switched over to amazon prime for all my streaming music. Of course you have to have amazon prime to use it but seems to be pretty good on my end.

Spotify was dead to me when they overwrote playlists that didn’t have anything to do with Drake with his new garbage album. I’m not going to pay $15 for hidden advertising.
As the great Snoop once said, “i dropped it like it was hot”

Spotify isn’t worth the $10 a month to some people. I’m one of them.

uBlockOrigin for Chrome . I haven’t seen an ad in years in years when I am on my laptop.

Yeah I’ve got prime but they just have a real limited selection comparatively .

Yikes I just downloaded it recently so I can listen to Kamikaze before I could get to the store buy the cd.

Maybe this is naive of me, but why would you intentionally try to sound out of touch?

It’s really not a big deal. I’m not on enough for the ads to bother me except for Spotify. I’ll just have to remember my iPod or stick to Prime Music.

that shit predates Spotify, and even the internet,
by decades. Even regular TV does that.

You can get ‘ad free’ for free on the desktop with an ad-blocker.

You are not wrong. I listen when I’m working around the house, and just turn it down until the ads are over. It’s a price I’m willing to pay for free music.

It’s a way to irritate people for fun (basically like being a hipster, but without having the whole lifestyle). The only people bothered by it are the early adopters who take pleasure in being condescending, so in a way you can separate out nice
kind people from the jerks that way
, too :D

I had a guy at work that did this. M anagement thought he was an idiot but in reality he was just having fun. I never understood, but it was a good learning moment. Felt bad for him because he was a good guy, but was perceived poorly.

Doing that at work would be a very bad idea...if anything, the workplace is an area where you have to pretend to know a lot more than you actually do :D
